"I want to grow a sea when I go back home"

Mutaz is a 10 years old child, energetic, smart and as happy as most of his peers. He is also a talented Dabka dancer (Palestinian folk dancing).

Mutaz left the refugee camp of Askar near Nablus for the first time in his young life last summer to Perform with the band Mahsael in Spain in an annual charity Gala organized in Malaga.

Daily exhausting rehearsals were rewarded; their trainer decided to take them to the beach which was 10 minutes walk from where the band stayed.

The children were excited, astonished, it took them a while to understand the glorious presence of the sea. They splashed each other with water, laughed and tried to swim.

Mutaz came to me asking for two plastic bags, I said to him "one bag of shells is enough to take back home with you my dear"

Mutaz looked up at me and said "I don't want shells, I will fill one bag with sand and the other with sea water to grow a sea in the refugee camp when I go home"
